Invitation to ITU Machine Learning and 5G workshop, followed by the 1st meeting of FG-ML5G, 29 Jan – 2 Feb 2018

Dear Sir/Madame,

You are kindly invited to the inaugural meeting of the new ITU-T Focus Group on Machine Learningfor Future Networks including 5G (FG-ML5G) that will take place at ITU’s premises in Geneva, Switzerland,from 30 January to 2 February.

An ITU Workshop on "Machine Learning for 5G and beyond" will also be held the day before the first meeting of the FG-ML5G, on 29 of January 2018, at the same location.

Participation in both the workshop and FG-ML5G is free of charge and open to all, and will be supported by remote participation tools.

Under the chairmanship of Prof Dr Slawomir Stanczak (Fraunhofer HHI, Germany), the FG-ML5G will draft technical reports and specifications for machine learning (ML) for future networks, including interfaces, network architectures, protocols, algorithms and data formats.

We invite you to submit your written contributions (input papers) for the 1st meeting of this Focus Group. Possible topics are: (1) the state of the art for machine learning, e.g., terms, definitions, concepts, requirements, research gaps, methods, formats, (standards) ecosystem; and (2) specific use cases and their standardization questions.

Please send your contributions to the ITU-T Secretariat (tsbfgml5g@itu.int). The deadline is 19 January 2018.

The objectives of the first FG-ML5G meeting include:

  • discussion on machine learning for 5G networks and their standardization questions;
  • agreement on the group’s structure, expected deliverables, responsibilities, timeline; and
  • review of written contributions and initial development of deliverables.

Registration, remote participation and other details about the meeting can be found on the FG-ML5G homepage.
